NWB is a flexible online residency to be participated in
on one’s own or with a chosen group of collaborators, friends, artists etc.

Each recording on this site was made by Anna Weissenfels and Lauren Strom-Berg during a residency at Maajaam in Otepää, Estonia during the summer of 2019.

While at Maajaam, Anna and Lauren were exploring the work of Dr. Stephen Porges’s Polyvagal Theory and Margaret Cameron’s performance as philosophy.  Under the influences of these two theorists, Anna and Lauren spent the residency investigating and recording the surrounding environment through improvisation and the invention of rituals. This practice became a catalyst for broader questions around ways of living and being.

While these recordings have become an archive from a specific time and place, the themes resonating in them are quickly brought to life through ritual.

NWB is a way to open possibilities, structured as a daily exploratory listening + walking practice.

That thing the nature of which is totally unknown to you
is usually what you need to find, and finding it is a matter of getting lost.
